How Etsy seller fees work (as of Oct 2026)
A typical US Etsy sale pays three fees: a listing fee, a transaction fee and a payment processing fee. Some sales also pay an Offsite Ads fee. Each one is charged on a different amount, which is why a quick percentage guess is usually off.
Listing fee: $0.20
Listing an item costs $0.20 for four months. When an item sells and the listing renews automatically, you pay another $0.20, and each extra quantity sold in one order also costs $0.20. The calculator counts one listing fee per sale.
Transaction fee: 6.5% of item, shipping and gift wrap
The transaction fee is 6.5% of the item price plus the shipping and gift wrap the buyer pays. It is not charged on sales tax. On a $30.00 item with $6.00 shipping, it is $2.34.
Payment processing: 3% + $0.25 (US)
Processing is charged on the full amount the buyer pays, including sales tax. With $2.40 of tax on the sale above, the total is $38.40 and processing is $1.40. This is the rate for shops with a US bank account; other countries have different rates.
Offsite Ads: 15% or 12%, only on ad sales
When a sale comes from an Etsy ad shown on another website, Etsy charges an Offsite Ads fee on the order total, up to $100.00 per order. The rate is 15% if your shop made under $10,000 in the past 365 days and 12% once it reaches $10,000, at which point the program is no longer optional. Pick an Offsite Ads option only for sales Etsy marks as attributed.
A worked example
For the default sale, fees are $2.34 + $1.40 + $0.20, or $3.94. Etsy deposits $32.06. After $8.00 for the item and a $5.00 label, you keep $19.06. If the same order came from an Offsite Ad at 15%, the fee adds $5.40.
What this calculator leaves out
- Etsy Ads you run on Etsy itself, which you set a budget for.
- Currency conversion when your listing currency differs from your bank’s.
- Labels bought through Etsy, which you can enter as your label cost.
- The one-time shop setup fee and any taxes charged on fees.
