Each Etsy fee on the $25 sale
- Transaction fee: 6.5% of item, shipping and gift wrap. 6.5% of $30 is $1.95.
- Payment processing: 3% + $0.25 on everything the buyer pays, sales tax included (US shops). Here $1.15.
- Listing fee: $0.20. When the item sells and the listing renews automatically, you pay it again.
That is $3.30, or 13.2% of the item price, and Etsy deposits $26.70 of the $30 the buyer paid (before your label).
Offsite Ads
When Etsy shows your listing in an ad on another site and the buyer comes from it, Etsy charges an Offsite Ads fee on the order total (item, shipping and gift wrap), up to $100.00 per order. It is 15% if your shop made under $10,000 in the past 365 days and 12% once it reaches $10,000, at which point you can’t opt out.
| Scenario | Transaction | Processing | Listing | Offsite Ads | Total fees |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $25 + $5 shipping | $1.95 | $1.15 | $0.20 | $0.00 | $3.30 |
| Same, plus $2 sales tax | $1.95 | $1.21 | $0.20 | $0.00 | $3.36 |
| Free shipping ($25 only) | $1.63 | $1.00 | $0.20 | $0.00 | $2.83 |
| Offsite Ads sale, 15% | $1.95 | $1.15 | $0.20 | $4.50 | $7.80 |
| Offsite Ads sale, 12% | $1.95 | $1.15 | $0.20 | $3.60 | $6.90 |
An Offsite Ads sale more than doubles the fees on a $25 order (computed). Sales tax adds only $0.06, because only processing is charged on it. Free shipping lowers the fees to $2.83, since shipping leaves both the transaction and processing base, but then you pay the label yourself. If one order includes more than one of the same item, each extra quantity costs another $0.20 listing fee.
