How each fee works
- Poshmark: a flat $2.95 on sales under $15 and 20% at $15 and up, on the item price only. Processing is included, and the buyer’s shipping pays for the prepaid label.
- Mercari: 10% of the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, with no separate processing fee since January 6, 2025. Sales tax is not in the base.
Side by side, from $10 to $100
| Item price | Poshmark fee | Keep on Poshmark | Mercari fee | Keep on Mercari | Mercari advantage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $10 | $2.95 | $7.05 | $1.70 | $8.30 | $1.25 |
| $14 | $2.95 | $11.05 | $2.10 | $11.90 | $0.85 |
| $30 | $6.00 | $24.00 | $3.70 | $26.30 | $2.30 |
| $60 | $12.00 | $48.00 | $6.70 | $53.30 | $5.30 |
| $100 | $20.00 | $80.00 | $10.70 | $89.30 | $9.30 |
Mercari leaves more at every price in the table (computed). The gap is narrowest under $15, where Poshmark’s flat fee is low, and widest on expensive items, where 20% grows faster than 10% of item plus shipping.
When the answer changes
If you offer free shipping on Mercari, you pay the label and the fee is charged on the item alone. The same $30 item with a $7 label you pay leaves $20.00 (computed), less than Poshmark’s $24.00. Shipping discounts on Poshmark come out of your earnings too. Fees are also only part of it: which app actually sells your item, and at what price, matters more than a dollar or two of fees.
Sales tax doesn’t change either fee. Poshmark charges on the item price and Mercari on item plus shipping, so tax the marketplace collects never enters the base on either app.
The calculator above runs the same sale on all five platforms. It starts on the clothing preset; for prices near $15, see Poshmark’s $15 fee cliff.
